60+ Adults

The 60+ Adults Ministry of Fort Smith First Baptist Church celebrates the idea that “we are not done yet!” Our adults age sixty and over are encouraged to:
- Serve wherever God is providing gifting
- Build community through worship, weekly social gatherings and monthly activities
- Be fed through challenging weekly Bible studies and personal time with God’s Word
In each area of contact we stress the truth that “God has no retirement plan.” Please join us for our 60+ Lunch on Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. in our Fellowship Hall.
People 60 and over often find a Sunday School Bible Class & fellowship home in classes designed for seniors, or in “all ages” classes, or in classes designed specifically for men or women:
Couples 2 Class
Age Range: 40s-60s
Teacher: Gary Thomas
Room: 220
Several of our 60+ couples still in their sixties are part of this class, which enjoys breaking down Scripture verse by verse, careful to stay within the context, never adding to or taking away from God’s Truth. Their focus is on discipleship and giving church members a sense of belonging.
Couples Class (Meat Lovers)
Age Range: 50s +

Don’t let the fun name of our class fool you – we call ourselves ‘Meat Lovers,’ based on Hebrews 5:14—“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” We have multiple teachers in our class who emphasize applying God’s Word to daily life. Our class has become firmly rooted in studying the Word one verse at a time and we enjoy strong friendships with one another through frequent times of fellowship.

Men and Women 60+ Class (The Tom Bull class)
Age Range: 60s +

This active class of both singles and couples enjoys quality Bible study and meaningful fellowships, encouraging one another and lifting each other up in prayer.
Men and Women 70+ Class (The Paul Parker class)
Age Range: 70s +
Teacher: Paul Parker
Room B, 1st floor
This class of both singles and couples supports each other in prayer during the challenging and rewarding days of passing 70. They enjoy quality Bible study and meaningful fellowships.
“Women Only” or “Men Only” Classes
Some of our 60+ want a Bible class designed just for women or just for men. Many find a fellowship home in “all ages” women or men classes such as these:
All Ages Men’s Systematic Theology class

Some of our 60+ men have found a home in this class. The most important goal of this class is to be led by the Holy Spirit in order to understand centrally important doctrines. Members of this class have in-depth discussion with one another over what they are studying.
Men’s Bible Study

Some of our 60+ men have joined this class. It is a group of men from all walks of life, desire to know God and make Him known by studying God’s Word and inspiring others to do the same.
Women Only “Seekers” Class
Women Only Class
Age Range: 50+
Teacher: Billie June Mayo and Rose Marie Murphy

This group of friendly, God-loving women seek to study and apply God’s Word daily. Each week, they pray for one another specifically—a part of their ministry that has had the greatest impact. They also engage in regular fellowship outside the church walls.
All Ages Women’s Bible Study

This Women’s Bible Studies is for women who are interested in fellowship and spiritual growth. This group of ladies are constantly growing closer to God and to each other through fellowship and personal testimonies. The women in this growing class range from college age to grandmothers.

A good number of our 60+ have found a home in this “all ages” class. Roger Haney explains, expounds and preaches the Scriptures in a way that glorifies God and increases one’s appreciation for His Word using a clear and understandable approach. This class is designed for everyone — single, married, men, women, young, median age, 60+.
